Our ‘Little Voices’ Choir is made up of 40 children from Years 1 and 2 who love making music together. We meet once a week for rehearsal where we have fun together and learn lots of ways to improve our voices and keep them healthy. Each term we work hard to learn a new repertoire of songs covering many different genres, from pop and rock to musical theatre and country. Some of our favourites have been songs by Oasis, Labi Siffre, American Authors, Madness, Paloma Faith, Queen, Coldplay, David Bowie and even The Spice Girls!
We perform at lots of different events throughout the year including the Hayes Christmas Lights Switch on, the joint Pickhurst Schools Christmas Carol Concert, the Hayes Village Summer Fair, our own school Summer Fair, the Bromley Youth Music Trust Infant Song Festival and many others. We also hold our own concerts for parents throughout the year, and at the end of Spring Term, Grandparents of choir members are invited to join us for a morning of music. Around 80 invited guests from our local community also join us every year for our Community Musical Morning. This is a lovely event that links our school with local church groups, Glebe Court Nursing Home, Bromley Rotary Club and many other local organisations. They all love to come and hear our fabulous choir sing for them!
When choir children leave us at the end of year 2, they will have discovered a love of music, singing and performing and their confidence will have grown immeasurably.
Applications to join choir are sent out to Year 1 and 2 children in September. Choir is very oversubscribed with an extremely low dropout rate, and so a waiting list is kept. Applications are only accepted in September.
